I would like to introduce you to jobberBase it's a most popular Open Source job board software developed by Filip Chereches - Tosa, extracted from the successful Romanian IT job board www.jobber.ro. JobberBase is a great solution for single-industry recruitment, and it's simple, but yet powerful.

Vector people

Some of main characteristics are posting jobs without an account, searching for jobs, apply to interesting jobs, administration panel, RSS feeds, site-widget to show jobs on other sites, and much more...

Right now it's in version 1.4 and it counts over 10,000 downloads. You can download it here. Installation is quite easy, just upload it and change db name etc and import db (this could be automatic like with WP but ok), you shouldn't have problems with it. After you have successfully installed it you should have interface same as www.jobber.ro and i would suggest you to develop a custom theme for it, which is also quite easy.

To do that you will have to make new (or just modify existing) template files. They are not in php like WordPress but it's working just fine. If you have ever developed WordPress themes you will see it's pretty much the same thing. But the main remark here is that it's not tableless so it might take some more time to code it that you usually do with WP.

Besides that i don't think i have i have some other remarks, maybe just in admin menu. Right now in admin you can change categories and pages (add new etc) so it would be cool if i could do some basic setup in admin like changing notify email and changing cities because to change cities you have to go to myadmin and do it manually (when you do that backup it!)

Since it's version 1.4 it's a bit buggy, for example in my case sometimes i don't need to approve ad (when user modify it, it just publishes itself) but if you have version 1.3 you could use some files from it to fix those bugs. In 1.4 there's also translation file for whole application so it won't be the problem...

All in all the software is really great and cute be sure you try it, and if you have some problems with it you can visit official blog here where you will find answers to most of your questions and also on their community forum here. Have fun!

What do you think?

I like jobberBase, and think it would fit my needs. However, I would need to hire someone to build out the site for me. Do you know where I can look for such a person?

Thanks!

Bill
