CSS, Hacks, Javascript ~ 22 comments CSS Browser Selector

The basic idea for this comes from this question “What if you won’t have to code those ugly CSS hacks for those browsers that just won’t show you what you want them to?”. Again writing about cross browser problems and solutions like on “IE7 JS library review“.

I’ve ran into two solutions for this. I personally haven’t tried this but, on the demos it seems to be working and i think it’s very good idea.

Design, Javascript ~ 8 comments Outline text with JS

During my work as frontend coder I had a task to place some white text on dynamic background image and the problems would accrue if background image was white so text wouldn’t be readable. This isn’t really every day requirement but it can be very useful. The solution I’m using is outline text JS, originally written by Anthony Ryan Delorie.

You can use this JavaScript in two ways, to outline text and to add shadow to text. It works in all major browsers. Click here for demo.

In “PNG transparency issues” I’ve written about some of many IE problems later on in “Yellow fields in web form” I’ve mentioned focus fix but now I would like to introduce you to IE7 JavaScript library which can make our lives so much easier

IE7 is a JavaScript library made by Dean Edwards to make Microsoft Internet Explorer behave like a standards-compliant browser. It fixes many HTML and CSS issues and makes transparent PNG work correctly under IE5 and IE6

CSS, Javascript ~ 27 comments PNG transparency issues

If you are CSS coder, you’ve probably ran in to png transparency problems many times. Even Microsoft is having problems with it http://runonce.msn.com/runonce2.aspx open in IE6. So I’ll tell you few problems and solutions I’ve handled so far.

First one is if you need just simple transparent image, without some special needs for example backgrounds etc. The solution would be png fix. I’ve used it many times but it has lots of faults, for example with padding, margins and absolute positioning. Sometimes i can mess up the rest of your JavaScript files, but anyway very useful script.
